Whoa Wednesday! Meet Jason

Posted on June 11, 2014

I know it has been a while since I have done a Whoa Wednesday feature and I couldn’t think of anyone else to kick it off but my buddy Jason.  I had the pleasure of meeting him through a mutual friend and my initial thought was  Woooow, his locs are awesome!  I mean his style was on point also but there was something about his energy that was intriguing and I was right.  Everyone meet Jason… 1. Name and where youRead More

I have been trying to stay consistant with drinking my green juices and I have to be honest, it’s been difficult.  With the weather finaling breaking, I just want to hangout al fresco and eat ummmm pizza.  I know that I have to maintain a healthy nutritional balance so I’m getting back on schedule.  Below is the recipe for Green Plus Goodies green juice that I had for breakfast this morning.  Enjoy! xoxo, Mel Ingredients: 1 bag of spinach plus (spinach, babyRead More

El Cosmico – Marfa, TX

Posted on May 1, 2014

After 7 hours of driving from Austin we arrived at El Cosmico Like I said in a previous post I have wanted to go somewhere different and completely unconventional. While googling, I came across this location.  It is an 18 acre campground that has trailers, safari tents and teepees and it was absolutely magical! That is literally the only way I can describe it. The weather was perfect though it did get a little chilly at night.  Here is a visual of theRead More

PuffCuff Hair Clamp Review

Posted on April 25, 2014

Hola everyone! I was very excited to try this product because I have been tired of using my bootleg version of black ponytail holders – I cut the feet of pantyhose to tie up these rizos. I am extremely tender headed (who would’ve thought with all this hair, huh) and that was my only remedy of rockin’ a ponytail or messy bun without pain until I received the PuffCuff Hair Clamp in the mail.  It claimed to be the only hair clamp for thick, coily,Read More

Prada Marfa

Posted on April 21, 2014

I couldn’t leave Marfa without visiting Prada Marfa.   It is a permanent installed sculpture by the artists Elmgreen and Dragset and is located about 35 miles outside of Marfa in the small town of Valentine, TX.  The installation was inaugurated on October 1, 2005.  It cost $80,000 for development and was never intended to be repaired so it could slowly degrade naturally.  Since then, it was vandalized twice – three days after completion and again the middle of March.  I so happened to be visitingRead More

Road trippin’ to Marfa, TX

Posted on April 16, 2014

Hola!   Check out a couple of photos my cousin Tamara took during our fun seven hour road trip from Austin to Marfa.  There were so many good pics, it was so hard to narrow it down.  Another humongous thanks to her for dealing with me pulling over at least every hour for a photo op.   More snapshots to come – Stay tuned! We took a pic of the directions because we had ZERO phone service (Thank God we did).

The BEST moment…EVER!

Posted on April 11, 2014

So I was sitting at my desk preparing some documents to give to my boss for review and my phone would not stop vibrating.  I have it set for just emails and phone calls- the rest of my notifications are off so I’m not distracted.  I look down at my phone and noticed a considerable amount of texts from my amigas but I found it odd because it was the middle of the day (12:46pm to be exact).  As IRead More

To the Max!

Posted on April 10, 2014

This is the outfit that I wore the second day in Austin.  It was a huge difference from what I was rockin’ to the airport – layers of clothing and boots.  This maxi dress was perfect and super comfy to explore the city.  The weather was absolutely beautiful!  85 degrees and not a cloud in the sky.  Oh yeah and no humidity!  Holy happy hair day! Stay tuned. More pics to follow… Dress, scarf, sunglasses, bag and shoes:  all Forever 21 Jacket:Read More
