With these last couple of hours of 2013, I’m typing this post and thinking “Wow, I can’t believe this year is almost over”. It was definitely a character builder. I lived in three states in a matter of 7 months, started a new job, became single, had a health scare, signed on to Instagram, launched a blog, was featured on numerous natural hair blogs and the list can go on. I challenged myself this year to step out of my comfort zone to be more open and willing to connect and less private. Now, I know it may seem that I’m a natural at this – I’m far from it. It was sort of an extremist approach but I promised myself not let difficult times define who I am. A huge THANKS to all of my family, friends AND readers that encourage me everyday to live up to my max potential – I am truly blessed! With all of the hard work that I put in and the “seeds” I planted this year, I am really excited to see it all flourish in 2014.
Feliz Año Nuevo!
(Happy New Year)

I am half Cuban and a little African American. I am learning Spanish and I really need help. How did you adjust moving to the United States? I think I read you said you have been living her seven months. What are challenges you faced when moving here?
Being open is good I am trying to do the same thing. I am 6ft and athletic build, big brown eyes and in grad school. Six more weeks left and I am free, now the real world begins. I did a paper on Cuba, my mother land, have you been to Cuba and if so what are the similarities and differences between Cuba and Puerto Rico? Thanks
